“Communication was perfect. Pickup at hotel by Serena was punctual. At nearly 69 years old, I was clearly the oldest. The pace worked for me. Emi the guide was patient and helpful to the slower people. With the altitude, everyone was happy for breaks. Terrain varied: uneven icy snow, loose ash, some slightly muddy sections and hard back. Poles provided for stability. Excellent day!”

Cable car to 2,500m, then a 4x4 and a guided hike to 3,000m on Etna, with lava channels, craters, and Bove Valley views.

“It was a good experience however the group was too big. 2 car load of 4x4 which is equivalent to around 30. We were split into 2 groups with one group English speaking and the other Italian. They did not keep track of the numbers and we were unable to keep up with the group without them even realizing. We did not continue and paid to take the 4x4 down to the cable car station and took the return ride down while those that followed all the way walked down from 3000m to take the cable car. In terms of safety i strongly felt that this is lacking. The guides…”

“We had a great time with our guide Antonio. The staff was very helpful at all times. The tour started on time and was very organized to ensure the safety measures. The hike, even though was physically demanding, was totally worthy. This was our first time not only on a vulcano, but also watching lava flow live, something you don’t ever forget. By the meeting point, there is a very nice cafeteria (la terrazza dell’etna) that can provide good breakfast before the departure, as well as the water needed to endure the experience. Totally would recommend AITNE for this.”
